=/

The only band there that I found decent is Dragonforce, and they aren't even considered rock

Power Metal, whee~

Slipknot, Mudvayne, SOAD and Linkin Park are all considered Nu-Metal.

I'm not too familiar with Ill Nino, Crossfade, or Seether, so I can't really comment on them.

Now, you say rock rules. Where's the true rock band o.o\

*tease*

SoaD is decent........but not rock. I listen to them when I'm really angry/depressed. Other than that, I listen to Prog/Prog Metal/Classic/Space/Punk/Folk/Irish(it's a genre)/Ozzy. All types of Rock imho.

Irish, eh?

Mourning Beloveth? Godly doom metal band from Ireland

I like how you defined Ozzy as a genre.

this helped me expand my taste in music. maybe it can help you guys out
http://www.pandora.com/

you basically type in a current band you like and it starts playing a bunch of bands that sound the same.

tbh nowadays "rock" is a little vague with all these random genres popping out that include guitars, basses, drums, etc.

i go through phases of music through the months. like 1 month im into street punk, then i go to d-beat, maybe some underground hip hop, etc. now i'm in my ska phase. traditional and two tone ska are alrite but third wave ska is definitely my favorite.

some popular third wave ska bands u might be intersted in:
streetlight manifesto
aquabats
catch 22
goldfinger
leftöver crack
less than jake
mighty mighty bosstones
operation ivy
planet smashers
reel big fish
sublime
suicide machines

Hm, that Pandora site is quite fun to play with. However, it does lead to several bad recommendations that don't really bring me to what I want. I type in "The Final Victory" by Haggard, which happens to be Symphonic Medieval Metal, and the site brings me to Killswitch Engage. What the hell?

And I just found out that there's a limit to the amount of skips you're allowed. No way in hell am I listening to more Killswitch Engage -_-

Then I type in Agalloch, and I find a few grind core and metal core bands. Good bands, but not exactly what I'm looking for =/

Perhaps grinding my way through forums looking for bands suits me better ><

Pandora has a very vast knowlege of bands though, it's pretty nice. Thanks, RuPee.

the one band getting heavier and better in the last 20 years = slayer

most origional metal band = sepultura

best rock band in the last ten years = killswitch engaged

if dead horse was still around, theyd be bigger than soad.

nuschool rock is weak, like hairbands in the 80s, they are dying, just waiting for a nirvana like godsend to kill them off.

I think the most original metal band would be Sabbath/Ozzy. I mean they kind os invented metal.

I've also noticed that metal has been getting heavier and heavier over the years. I mean, listen to Run To the Hills by Iron Maiden compared to anything by Slayer or Metallica. It's more about hate and death/kiling now.

Wierd, I typed in Flogging Molly into the Pandora project...and I got Great Big Sea. I haven't heard any of their music in so long. They aren't really like Flogging Molly though...I don't get it.

Pandora tends to just take one element of the song or band that you have listed and makes a connection with everything that they have.

When I type in something like "Agalloch", I can also end up with Cradle of Filth because of their Black Metal vocals.

I stopped playing around with Pandora because of the forced non skip and they supply you with so much bad bands that have only the smallest similarities to the searched target =/
